FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION AND INFORMATIONPrevention Through Education
The Vermont Fire Safety House Program The fire safety houses are trailers that are designed to present realistic
safety educational programs for children and the general public. There
are two fire safety trailers available from the division, and the trailers
are equipped with various home hazards in a miniature home environment.
Staff members handle the scheduling, transportation and maintenance
of the fire safety educational trailers. The programs are generality
presented by local fire departments members after receiving training
and orientation on its use. State Fire Prevention Calendar Program Every year posters based on the fire prevention themes are prepared by thousands of third grade students throughout Vermont. Sixteen posters out of the thousands submitted are selected to be included in the Fire Safety Calendar. Preparing a fire safety poster provides an excellent learning experience for a third grader and the fire safety calendar provides an excellent reminder throughout the year with a different fire safety message for each month. >>MORE Custom Educational Programs & Technical Assistance The Education Coordinator provides technical assistance and custom fire safety education to fire departments and other groups on various fire safety issues. In addition to telephone, email and written support, the division can also provide onsite consultations and classes on basic fire/life safety code issues. The Division can also help with community fire safe construction planning and other general fire protection issues and code questions.
The Division's education section also provides fire safety talks and numerous programs and activities to community groups, organizations and businesses. The goal of the fire safety talks is to offer fire safety education to all populations in the state. Download a Request Form for General Fire Safety Information & Presentations
The office maintains a wide variety of fire prevention information and programs from many other states and from around the world. With the additional materials and equipment in the fire safe Vermont project lending library the office is able to provide a great deal of resources to support local fire prevention education efforts. Additionally through our partnerships with other organizations, the Division is able to provide access to low cost safety devices and resources to organizations in Vermont to prevent unintentional injuries.
