HAZMAT RESPONSE LEVELS

LEVEL 1

A Level 1 HazMat is one which can be handled by local resources at the scene. The role of the HazMat Team is to offer phone consultation to the incident command.

LEVEL 2

A Level 2 HazMat is one where the local incident command needs more assistance and consultation then can be given by phone. The usual response for a level 2 is a Crew Chief and another team member.

LEVEL 3

A Level 3 response is for a more complex HazMat incident. A "Strike Team" will be deployed. The strike team consists of one Chief, five team membersd and one HazMat truck.

LEVEL 4

A Level 4 response is one which requires more then one strike team and/or additional support resources
