NATURAL AND PROPANE GAS

The purpose of this program is to protect the people of the State of Vermont from the risk of injury or death from unsafe natural and propane (LP) installation by the adoption and enforcement of nationally recognized safety codes and by the licensure, education and training of people doing natural and propane installation work. A certification of Fitness (TQP) is required for all individuals performing activities related to fire or life safety, based on the qualifications below.


NATURAL GAS INSTALLER

Scope – The installation, repair and maintenance of fuel gas systems.

Qualifications – Successful completion of the American Gas Association (AGA) course of study including the Fundamentals of Combustion, Gas Appliance Venting, Electricity, Gas Controls and Gas Appliances.

Continuing Education – Eight (8) hours of related instruction during the previous 3 years.

LIQUIFIED PROPANE (LP) GAS INSTALLER

Scope – The installation, repair and maintenance of LP gas systems.

Qualifications – Successful completion of National Propane Gas Association certified employer Training Program (CETP) sections 1, 4, 6 and 7; for people involved with LP gas delivery, plant operations and transfer system operations; successful completion of CETP Sections 1, 2, 3 or 5 as appropriate.

Continuing Education – 8 hours of related instruction during the previous 3 years.
