CHIMNEY SWEEP (TQP)

The purpose of this program is to protect the people of the State of Vermont from the risk of injury or death from unapproved chimney sweep operations by the adoption and enforcement of nationally recognized safety codes and by the licensure, education and training of people doing chimney sweep work. A Certification of Fitness (TQP) is required for all individuals performing activities related to fire or life safety, based on the qualifications below.


CHIMNEY SWEEP INFORMATION

Scope – The cleaning, maintenance and evaluation of chimneys.

Qualifications – Successful completion of the examination for Certified Chimney Sweep from the Chimney Safety Institute of America.

Continuing Education – Eight (8) hours of related instruction during the previous 3 years.

NFPA211 - Standard for Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents and Solid Fuel-Burning Appliances - 2003 Edition

NOTE: The Vermont Division of Fire Safety does not sell code books. Please contact NFPA to purchase the codes and standards.
