VFIRS - VERMONT FIRE INCIDENT REPORTING SYSTEM
VERMONT PLUS-ONE CODES / SPECIAL STUDY CODES

Vermont adds Special Study and additional Plus-One codes to the national codes to study specific situations that affect the State’s fire problem. Plus-One codes have been added for fireworks, cigarettes and to the Equipment Power field (F2) for solid fuels in the Fire Module. A special study is currently in effect for heating appliance installation dates.

A Plus-One code is additional specificity added to a code already in the NFIRS 5.0 system.

Users of the NFIRS federal software do not need to do anything; the codes have been added to the system by this office. Users of Vendor Software must add the Plus-One codes to their local software in the Heat Source field on the Fire Module. Any local Plus-One codes used in this field must be overwritten in favor of the statewide coding.
