NATIONAL RESOURCE TYPING
Message from Captain Chris Reinfurt, NIMS Coordinator
As the state NIMS Coordinator I am requesting your assistance in updating the Resource Typing information. The Vermont Homeland Security Unit is required, by a condition of the HS grants, to “inventory response assets to conform to NIMS National Resource Typing Definitions, as defined by FEMA Incident Management Systems Division” and then validate them. As you may be aware, in 2004-2005 some resource typing information was obtained through LEPC/RPC surveys but much of this did not include the information that was published by FEMA in July of 2007.
This information is vital in the statewide effort to document the first responder capabilities within the state and to measure NIMS compliance as mandated by the federal government. Organizations that are not NIMS compliant are not eligible for federal preparedness grants including, but not limited to, all Department of Homeland Security Grants (DHS), DHS Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) Grants and Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG).
The questions found in the surveys reference information that is contained in the FEMA Resource Typing Documents of which excerpts can be referenced by clicking on the links provided within each discipline's survey form. There is also an All Discipline Resource Survey that every organization needs to complete. For those of you who have already completed your discipline specific Resource Typing Survey, you will need to complete this second All Discipline Resource Survey as well.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
