Homeland Security Logo Training Opportunities

The Training and Outreach Coordinators of the Department of Public Safety Homeland Security Unit will assist in the coordination of all federal and state sponsored domestic preparedness training.

Terrorism grants have been provided by the Department of Justice, through the Office of Domestic Preparedness. These grants will enable the Homeland Security Unit to make available the following courses. Scheduling will be done through the Training and Outreach Coordinators.

Awareness

  • Emergency Response to Terrorism: Basic Concepts (ERT:BC) Train-the-Trainer
  • Law Enforcement Response to Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents, Train-the-Trainer
  • Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings
  • Hospital Emergency Management: Concepts and Implications of WMD Incidents
Operations
  • WMD Emergency Response Live Agent Training (COBRA)
  • Radiological/Nuclear Responder Operations
  • Emergency Response to Terrorism-Operations Train-the-trainer
  • Emergency Response to Domestic Biological Incidents
  • Public Works: Planning for and Responding to a Terrorism/WMD Incident
Technician
  • EMS Operations and Planning for WMD
  • WMD HazMat Technician Live Agent (COBRA)
  • Radiological/Nuclear HazMat Technician
Specialized/Tier IV

  • WMD Incident Command Live Agent (COBRA)
  • WMD Incident Management/Unified Command

Management and Planning

  • Managing Weapons of Mass Destruction Executive Level Law Enforcement
  • Senior Officials Workshop
  • Threat and Risk Assessment for Jurisdictions

Currently there are courses available online for those responders who are unable to attend on-site training. The courses are made available by the National Response and Rescue Training Center, Texas Engineering Extension Service, Texas A & M University. The courses include:

  • EMS Concepts for WMD Incidents
  • Terrorism Awareness for Emergency First Responder
