E-911 TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION TEST IN VERNON

Waterbury, VT – Vermont 911, in conjunction with Vermont Emergency Management, will conduct a test of the 911 emergency notification system on Thursday June 4th. The test will take place in the Vermont Yankee Emergency Planning Zone and announce a change in the monthly siren test for the town of Vernon to the third Thursday of each month.

The 911 emergency notification system allows for phone calls to be made by 911 to residents of a specified area to warn of impending disasters, pass on special announcements, or relay other vital information.

While this is a test, the information will be real. Residents should not be alarmed by the call, but should take note of the siren test date change.

For more information on the 911 emergency notification test contact David Serra, Vermont 911 Executive Director at 802-828-4911 or Mark Bosma, Vermont Emergency Management Public Information Officer at 800-347-0488. Mark can also be contacted for more information on the siren test change.
