Road Closure Update

A number of roads that had been damaged and closed due to this weekend’s heavy rains have been re-open.  Below is an update.  It is critical to note and pass along to your audience that many of the repaired roads are passable but not ideal; all should drive on these roads with extreme caution.

Wallingford:

Route 140 - The washout on Route 140 will close the road for several days between Bear Mountain road and the west end of Sugar Hill road. Detour via Route 103 to Route 7.

Berlin:

Muzzy Road – Still closed; road crews are still currently working to make it passable.

The Bridge on Chase Brook Road – Has been ruled safe by inspectors and the road has been re-opened.

West Hill Road is passable but hazardous.  Motorists should try to avoid West Hill Road if at all possible, or drive with extreme caution if it cannot be avoided.

Moretown:

Cox Brook Road – Open.

Wardsboro Brook Road - Open.

Jones Brook Road - Open.

Moretown Mountain Road – This remains the only road in Moretown that is impassable at this time and is closed.  Moretown road crews will return to get the road open on Sunday.

Middlesex:

Brook Road and Center Road.- No new reports to Vermont Emergency Management.

Rain is expected to continue throughout the night and all Vermont counties from Rutland and Windsor north are either under Flood Watches or Flash Flood Warnings.  Seek higher ground if floodwaters begin to rise and never drive or walk through floodwaters.

Towns that have suffered damage, or suffer damage in the continuing rainfall can report all damage to Vermont Emergency Management at 800-347-0488.

Those affected by the storm can call 211 for resource assistance.  No emergency shelters have been established at this time.
