ASSISTANCE FOR INDIVIDUALS

If you are out of water or running short, you should contact your local Emergency Management Director or town offices.

For access to a public water system or to request a water trailer to be provided to the town by the National Guard, you should contact your local Emergency Management Director or town offices.

You may also be eligible for assistance to drill a new well. If you have a well drilled, it must be by a Vermont licensed well driller. For a current list of well drillers, contact the Water Supply Division of the Agency of Natural Resources at 800-823-6500.

Individuals on private wells may be suffering from the consequences of the drought. Some federal resources may be available in the form of loans or grants to individuals that meet certain income requirements.

The USDA Rural Development office offers the Home Repair Loan and Grant Program to help homeowner that are experiencing these problems. This can help fund drilling a new well. Local offices can provide the information on eligibility criteria.
