INDIVIDUALS
WITH DISABILITIES
Let
your local Emergency Management Director know in advance
if you need any special assistance during an emergency. Special help
can be made available to you.
Your
local Emergency Management organization is prepared to help you if you
have a special need and would need assistance during a public emergency.
If you or someone in your household would need special help being notified
of an emergency, sheltering-in-place, evacuating, or staying in a mass
care shelter, please let the Emergency Management Director know immediately.
Special help is available, but is best planned before
an emergency happens. Please fill out the confidential special needs
card which appears on the back page of the printed calendar or download
one from this page. A new card should be sent in every year.
If
you are deaf or hard of hearing and would need special notification
of a public emergency, please notify your local Emergency Management
Director, or the Vermont Center for Independent Living (VCIL) 254-6851
(voice) or 254-8867 (TTY) as special equipment is available. You may
use the special needs card at the back of the printed calendar or download
one from this page, or call 1-800-347-0488 and ask for the RERP Program.
You may
request alternate forms of the Emergency Planning Information contained
in this calendar on this website, such as a cassette recording, braille,
large print, etc. or you may print out this information.
ALL
INFORMATION WILL BE KEPT STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.
If
you have children who might be home alone, make sure they understand
the information in this calendar and know what to do in an emergency.
It is especially important that they know how to tune to their Emergency
Alert System radio station. |
