COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

Welcome and Introductions
Attending were:
Butch Corey – Halifax
Andy Robinson – Putney
Ken Johnson – Jamaica
Mike Fontaine – Brookline
Luke Evans – Townshend
Lt. Rick Hopkins - VSP

Minutes from March meeting were reviewed and approved

Lt. Hopkins reviewed the current state of the barracks to include the roster, staffing etc.

The board took a tour of the station.

Each member reviewed their town’s calls for the past quarter

Recruitment – Conversation around recruiting board members from towns not currently represented – Guilford, Marlboro, and Stratton. Also spoke about inviting towns not covered by VSP to include Brattleboro, Vernon, Dover and Wilmington. Hopkins to follow up with these towns select boards, bring a CAB member to meetings.

Round table discussion:

Halifax – Constable may be giving out inaccurate info about ATV’s. Hopkins to address.
Putney, lot of concern in town over proposed low income housing. Friday night concerts this summer.
Brookline, Overweight trucks continue to operate without permits. Vandalism, theft of signs a problem. Town Picnic coming up, Mike F to provide Hopkins with date/time.
Townshend - No issues, Hospital Fair first weekend in August.
Jamaica – Old home days coming up on 7-28. 1000 hrs start, 1700 parade.

Statewide CAB meeting – will be 9-8-07 location TBA in Central VT.

Discussion on possibility of combining Rockingham and Brattleboro Offices into one Super Barracks in Westminster. Project is in feasibility study for next legislative session.

Discussion on holding a CAB open house. Tentatively set for October, would invite Select Board members, State Reps/Senators, public.

Next meeting was not set as it was anticipated that the October open house would dictate the meeting schedule.
