EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS

Thank you for visiting the Vermont Department of Public Safety web site. The department provides emergency dispatching services to the Vermont State Police, local police agencies, county sheriff departments, constables, fire service, EMS services and other state law enforcement agencies from eight communication  centers throughout Vermont.

The civilian staff that serve as call takers and emergency communication dispatchers is a dedicated group who strive to provide the best service possible to the citizens and visitors of Vermont. There are about 90 full-time and part-time call takers and emergency communication dispatchers who provide twenty-four hour a day emergency dispatching. The role of dispatching is critical to delivering quality emergency services in Vermont.

The operation of emergency communications is a part of the Field Force Division’s mission and falls under the direction of the Assistant Field Force Commander.
