DISPATCHING
/ E-911 SERVICES
The Vermont State Police maintain four Communication Centers, known as PSAPs (Public Safety Answering Points). Each of these centers handles dispatching and 911 call-taking services for their areas of the state. These centers are staffed by Emergency Communications Dispatchers (ECDs).
The centers are located in Williston (A Troop), Derby (B Troop), Rutland (C Troop), and Rockingham (D Troop).
An Emergency Communications Dispatcher is often the first point of contact in an emergency. An ECD is a crucial and integral part of public safety. Our centers operate on a 24/7 basis. An ECD provides emergency and non-emergency help to the public, law enforcement, and other emergency responders.
Being an ECD is a rewarding and fulfilling career. We are responsible for the safety of law enforcement personnel, other first responders, and the citizens and visitors of the State of Vermont. Helping others on a daily basis is rewarding, and saving a life is a truly phenomenal feeling. Visit our Career Opportunities page to learn about joining our team and the many rewards that come with it.
