PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT: Structure Fire

DATE/TIME: 10/23/09 at approx. 3:27 am

LOCATION: 83 Woodridge Drive, Colchester

VICTIM: Albert Campagnone
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Colchester, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 10/23/09 at approximately 3:27 am Albert Campagnone awoke when he heard what he thought was glass breeaking outside his home.  When Campagnone looked out his window he found his detached garage was completely engulfed in flames.  Campagnone called 911.  Colchester Fire Department arrived on scene within approximately 8 minutes of receiving the call.  When the fire department arrived the garage  was fully involved.  The fire department put out the fire and contained the damage to the garage.  

The Vermont State Police were contacted to conduct an Origin and Cause fire investigation. Fire Investigators from the Vermont State Police and Division of Fire and Safety responded to the scene.  

The investigation has shown the fire was intentionally set.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program at 1-800-32 ARSON or the Colchester Police Department at 264-5555.  

The garage and two vehicles inside were completely destroyed.  Damage estimates are estimated to be approximately $80,000.00  No one was injured in the fire.
