VERMONT STATE POLICE SCUBA TEAM
The Scuba Team was first formed in the 1970’s and is currently comprised of ten sworn members. Each member is carefully selected and trained to deal with the physical and psychological demands and challenges of public safety scuba diving. The team is able to operate 24/7, 365 days a year and capable of performing a number of technical underwater operations. Some of these capabilities include ice diving, swift water diving, night and no visibility diving, underwater salvage and underwater crime scene investigation. The Scuba Team is regularly activated to search for and recover victims of water related incidents and evidence associated with criminal activity. Although most assignments occur within Vermont, members have also traveled to Maine, New Hampshire, New York and the Province of Quebec. The Vermont State Police Scuba Team can be activated by contacting any local State Police barracks. For information on the services provided by the Scuba Team please contact the team’s Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Whitcomb.
